Located on No.7, Beiping E. Rd., Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taipei Artist Village used to be the office building of the Taipei City Department of Public Maintenance and Construction and Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation. On October 12, 2001, the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs established Taipei Artist Village: 12 Villages. Based on the concept of reutilizing vacant city spaces, the Village is used as a space where artists can live and create. The entire Village consists of a piano room, dark room, dance studio and 13 artists’ workshops, available for the use of various residency artists. Normally only the Baili Hall on Floor 1 is open for exhibitions. Artists’ Studios on Floor 2 and above are not open for visits. In Spring and Fall, sessions of Open Studios are open for the public to have a close contact & interaction with residency artists.
