Trading briefcases and finance for pots and pans, this husband-and-wife team did more than make an impulsive career change. They answered the call of a culinary tradition passed down through their family.

Nothing is taken for granted, not even a bowl of rice. Their carefully selected rice comes from the wife's hometown in the East Rift Valley of Hualien and Taitung; after just five chews, its natural sweetness unfolds. Chicken legs, pork chops and fried tofu owe their flavor to carefully prepared marinades, with premium cinnamon adding the defining note. Vegetables and fish are selected locally and in season, while fresh, locally sourced meat ensures tenderness and flavor.

The owner's father also contributes the treasured dishes he has perfected over decades at the stove, bringing daily surprises to their “Mom’s Home Cooking” bento. Even the family's own mother takes her seat for lunch promptly each day.
