One of the two founders is a third-generation Changyiyuan Hand Puppet Troupe performer. He/she founded the Changyifang Classic Hand Puppet Workshop in 1989 to focus on the creation and innovation of hand puppet shows. The other founder majored in art and travels around Taiwan in search of old cloth shops and cloth. In 2002 they founded a workshop that combined their expertise in hand puppets and cloth with the goal of designing and selling Taiwanese printed cloth items and traditional cloth hand puppets. 

The brand integrated the two main elements of the store: printed cloth and hand puppets. Bu Diao focuses on Taiwan printed cloth and uses modern methods to reinterpret and express tradition, thereby bringing Taiwanese culture into daily life.
