Family Mart was founded in August 1988 in Taiwan as a joint venture between ITOCHU Corporation, Family Mart Co., Ltd. and renowned major corporations in Taiwan. In 2002, the company became a TPEx -listed company, and now the number of Family Mart stores in Taiwan is second only to that of Japan. Currently, Family Mart operates 3,049 stores in Taiwan and 24,379 stores worldwide (as of November 30, 2016). Upholding the spirit of innovation, Family Mart has introduced groundbreaking services on multiple occasions, allowing it to develop the blue ocean market and introduce more innovative, thoughtful services for the customers. For example, FamilyMart was the first convenience store to launch Taipei City parking fee payment service in 1998, ushering the new era of convenience store payment services; in 2002, FamilyMart launched the Chinese New Year’s Eve cuisine pre-order service, introducing a brand new business model.
