Store Transformation in Taipei
【Brand story】
40 years ago, there was a young boy named A-Fu from Meishan, Chiayi. He carried dried golden needle mushrooms grown by his father and headed north to pursue his dreams. After a few years, he started a small grocery store on Dihua Street in Taipei. He would exchange seven large boxes of canned goods for a single can of fresh milk. The cardboard boxes used for storing goods served as a crib for his children and a canvas for their doodles. Despite the hardships, honesty was their true treasure.
Handcrafted brown sugar from Alishan’s white sugarcane, Aiyu jelly for cooling down in the summer, and the fragrant aroma of dried goods and nuts roasted to perfection. The pure and simple beauty of mountain produce was passed down through generations.
From the mountains to the city, from around the world to Taiwan, the richness from the mountains warms the hearts and stomachs of people like you and me.
【Key points of transformation】
The old dried goods grocery store gets a fresh makeover, transforming into a Japanese-style cultural and creative shop.
With Alishan brown sugar and Aiyu jelly as their star products, Fushan Store expanded from wholesale to retail. However, their original name couldn’t be trademarked, which was hindering their product expansion. The brand was renamed “Fuzi Shan Zhong,” focusing on the uniqueness of mountain produce, extending the imagery of abundance from the mountains. The shop’s interior was revamped in the style of an old Kyoto store, turning the old grocery into a creative general store.
