Description
Since its inauguration in 2001, Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, had been managed and operated by the Contemporary Art Foundation comprised of private-sector enterprises commissioned by the Taipei City Government for the first 7 years. The concerted efforts and teamwork amongst the Foundation’s board directors and Museum directors and staffs had on and off organized a slew of outstanding contemporary art exhibitions. Besides its commitment in promoting dialogues between Taiwan and the international art scenes, the Museum is also devoted to expanding the public’s aesthetic tastes and cultural visions. Starting from January 1 2008, the BOT contract that lasted 7 years ended. Taipei Cultural Foundation took over the operation and management of the Museum. The new managerial team has continued with its predecessor’s management ideals and directions, while further congealing domestic and overseas attention in combining the limited governmental resources and the private sponsorships and bridging diverse cultures and cross-sector creativity. Besides playing an important role in organizing international contemporary art exhibitions and serving as a spotlight showcase to highlight Taiwan’s contemporary art, the Museum has always hoped to fulfill the three objectives: I, to promote diverse artistic creations and exhibitions; II, to focus on stimulating the public for new perspectives and new thinking; III, to provide the development of contemporary cities with endless creativity and vitality.
