Description

The island of Sanxiantai has an area of 22 hectares, and has an altitude of 77 meters at the highest point. It is surrounded by coral reefs on all four sides. Its geography belongs to the Tuluanshan Formation family. It is a volcanic agglomerate comprised of andesite gravels and tuff. Weathering and sea erosions formed sea grooves, potholes, stacks, sea notches, and tunnel-shaped sea arches. sea erosion Sanxiantai was originally a headland, which only became an island after severe sea erosion. Initially, the Amis tribe raised their sheep here; hence the name Pisirian (Amis: place to raise sheep). There are 3 great rock peaks on the island. Legend says Lü Dongbin, Li Tieguai, and He Xian'gu once climbed up. This is how it got its name. The 8 Arched Bridge bridging the coast and Sanxiantai Island is like a dragon lying on the waves, corresponding to the legend of "The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea." There are magnificent sea erosion landscape and precious coastal plants on the island. At twilight, the scene of fishing boats on the sea in their daily routine even more so enriched the coastal scenery of Sanxiantai.
